KIIT started its journey as an Industrial Training Institution in 1992-93, however 1997 is considered as the base year for the University for undergraduates and postgraduates in Engineering, Management and Computer Applications. By 2007 the institution homed other schools like School of Law, Biotechnology, Medical Sciences, Dental Sciences, Nursing, Mass Communication, Film and Media, Fashion and KIIT International School. If you ever walk down the streets of KIIT Road, Patia, you will find the wall glorified with paintings portraying rich cultures and heritage of India. It's better to visualize them during the day hours and you can see every minute artwork on the paintings of monuments, sculptures and figures. Paintings and illustration of various historical monuments cover the walls.
Not only the streets of KIIT Road, but even you can get a mini-India tour when you walk past the Campus 12 and Campus 18. The walls are painted in flamboyant art works. The wall paintings depict several importance historical sites and monuments all over the side of the road. It includes Victoria Memorial, Taj Mahal, Gateway of India, Bengali Mahal, Red Fort and many more.
The hostels of KIIT University are even themed as different states in India. Among them some of them are:
Queen's Castle 1, girls' hostel, in deigned in theme of Punjab. The drawings all over the hostel walls are painted in tradition of Punjab with paintings of Punjabi men and women in their attire, their household scenes of wheat making process by the Punjabis, men and women working in the farming lands, tractors being driven by them, paintings of their small cottage industries that includes handlooms, arti-crafts and artworks of Phulkari, Pidhis, Jootis, Durries and Parandis. A wall also holds the magnificent and gazing beauty of the Golden Temple in Punjab.
QUEEN'S CASTLE 1
Queen's Castle 5, girl's hostel, homes the tradition of Benaras. The vibrant paintings showing the famous Ganga Arti, Aghori Sanyasis, ultimate pilgrimage spots and the innumerable numbers of famous ghats hold significant places in your heart and put you on an instant drive to the spiritual heart of India.
Queen's Castle 2, girl's hostel. Being in Odisha and not vibing with the Temple City and The Sports State of India will make you feel an absence even after having everything. The walls of QC 2 bring you admist the crowds of temples and tradition of Odisha with its rich cultural heritage. You can sit and admire the whole day and praise the beauty an artist can create with strokes of brush and splash of colors.
